Ron Shepps
President
As MAIOP Elections loom and my term as President of MAIOP draws nearer and nearer to its close, I want to be sure to express my personal appreciation to all members of our Board. This is an exceptionally hard-working - and productive - group of individuals!
As President, I must recognize the significant demands Board service creates on personal time - on average, at least a half hour every other week ... or sometimes even every week, just for our Meetings, to say nothing of the work on MAIOP's behalf that this talented group of individuals does at home, cutting into what I am sure is already scarce leisure time on the part of these busy, busy group of frequently self-sacrificing volunteers.
Board contributions this year are both numerous and significant, but, for me, the draft MAIOP Constitutional revision that MAIOP Members will be voting on later this month is of particular importance in laying a firm foundation for smoother MAIOP governance in the future. I am also personally impressed by the record number of individuals running for MAIOP office this year - greatly to the credit of a willing-to-be-involved MAIOP membership.
I must also take respectful note of the many skills or competencies I feel are required for successful performance as a Board Member, including personal qualities such as as being a team player, willingly taking personal responsibility, demonstrating commitment by carving time out of one's personal schedule, and making constructive and timely 'catches' on errors and omissions of both new and experienced members, so that the quality of service that goes out to our Membership remains the very highest.
Finally, my sincere respect goes out to our dues-paying, bothering-to-vote, volunteering-for-the-Board, catch-every-meeting-I-can MAIOP members. MAIOP is indeed fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated membership base.
I hope to see you all at our last meeting of our MAIOP year, on May 23, in Novi.
